About this event

The New York State Office of Victim Services (OVS) in partnership with the Institute for Disaster Mental Health at SUNY New Paltz (IDMH), present Trauma-Informed Supervision: Competencies and Practices, a 3-hour virtual training on November 18, 2021 at 9am EST.

Led by Dr. Kerrie Fineran, Ph.D, Associate Professor and Program Director of the Counselor Education Program at Perdue University, Fort Wayne School of Education, this free online training will provide participants with a general understanding of trauma informed care principles and practices in direct service and supervision. Specific training about essential components of effective supervision and infusing these trauma-informed principles into supervision experiences with direct reports will be provided. The training will be lecture-based with small group breakout sessions for more in-depth discussion of topics and practice with case study examples.

Additional Training Opportunities

This course will be offered again on February 16, 2022. Registration for this second session will be announced at a later date. Note that you should only register for this course once.

Those who successfully complete one of the virtual training sessions (November 18, 2021 or February 16, 2022) will be eligible to attend a limited-capacity in-person Supervisor's Retreat in the Fall of 2022. Details about this additional, optional event (including agenda, date, location and fee for participation) will be released to eligible participants in the Summer of 2022.
